Can I start with saying how much I hate the MTN network?  Not only can I not view it on DirecTV or Dish, but when the game is on the MTN, I miss the first (and probably the best) scoring drive of the game for Utah.  Instead they have to show us the end of the UNLV/WYO game, which I don't care about.  Are you telling me that the MTN doesn't have the capability to switch games on those local areas that want to see their team play?  That is horrible!  The MWC presidents really screwed up with this TV deal!

Enough of that...This game was pretty boring to watch overall.  Utah made some good plays and put together some solid drives.  The offense did what it had to do to win the game, but the Utes still proved that they don't have the killer instinct to put teams away.  The defense played solid and continues to show improvement.  Young players are stepping into key roles and playing with confidence.

I'm a little disappointed in the offensive play calling.  Ludwig put together a great script of plays which amounted to a touchdown on our opening drive, but after that, it was boring to watch.  I love to line up and stick to your opponent as much as anyone, but it was the 3^rd and long situations that I was annoyed with.  And, 6 passing plays in the second half is very one dimensional.  Ray Stowers and Darrell Mack had a field day running the ball, but a balanced attack can open things up so much more.

I'm happy the team has turned things around and have put together this 5 game winning streak, but we have 3 challenging games ahead.  Wyoming is similar to us in the fact that you don't know which team will show up.  I'm not too worried about Wyoming coming into Rice-Eccles since the Utes have 2 weeks to prepare, but New Mexico has had our number in Rice-Eccles recently.  We need to win out to keep our hopes alive for a share of the conference title.  All we need is someone to trip up the "Team Down South" and we can share the conference title in a season that looked over after 4 games.  Credit to Coach Whit for getting things together.
