HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago

The offense was horrible against TDS. We couldn't move the ball in the first half and we killed ourselves with dumb mistakes the whole game.
Missed blocking assignment in 1st quarter caused BJ to throw and interception because his arm was hit as he was throwing.
Holding penalties throughout the game that took us from 2nd, 3rd and short to 3rd and long situations.
Holding penalty on Louks' run that took us inside the 5 yard line and gave us a 1st and goal situation on the opening drive of the second half.
These things hurt us big time since two of those were great opportunities to make a statement and set the tone for the 1st and 2nd half.

Absolutely. I really do think that if we had scored first or answered their 3 points with a touchdown it would have put our defense in a position to be able to take a few more chances and get more pressure on Hall or stiffen up in the middle plus it would have taken some of the pressure off Johnson and the offense know that they can score.
Momentum is huge in college football and that starts with confidence and knowing you can move the ball and put points on the board. We had 2 scoring opportunities inside the 5 and put up only 3 points. Pathetic. Redzone efficiency is something the Utes definitely need to improve on next year.

Red zone efficiency has always been bad under Ludwig. I remember in 2005, B Johnson was 4th in total offense produced, but we could never put points on the board. We stalled in the red zone all the time.
Ludwig does okay with play calls when he has an entire field to work with, but struggles when it gets condensed (like being in the red zone). I never see our receivers running 5 yard drag routes or inside slant routes. Also, our receivers struggle against a zone defense. They need to find the holes in the zone and sit! If B Johnson is under pressure, then you need to get yourself in his view, so he can make a play.
I HOPE, HOPE, HOPE it will get better next year.
