Where is the punt block? 1 Year, 3 Months ago
If I remember correctly, and feel free to let me know if I don't..., we haven't blocked a punt or field goal since Whit took over as head coach.
Am I correct on this?? If I am, then what the hell are we doing?
Punt blocks can have a huge impact on the game. I understand that it is a risk/reward situation with not the best percentages, but sometimes you have to just go after it.
Our punt return game hasn't impressed me this year, so why not try to block a kick here and there. If we happen to rough the kicker once, then I can live with that. At least I will know that we care enough to try and block a kick.

I'm trying to think if we blocked a punt in '05. I know we didn't block one all year last year. In fact, I don't even think we went after any. This year we've gone after a couple to no avail. Jay Hill is the special teams coach and unfortunately, he was only a lowly GA under Meyer. Obviously he didn't learn anything from Meyer, who was in charge of Special Teams and emphasized ST at the beginning of every practice. In my opinion, Special Teams is more important than Offense or Defense, cuz on Special Teams, you grab momentum and/or switch momentum. Ol' Mo is huge in any game.

Absolutely. I'm pretty sure we haven't block any kicks under Whit, but even if we have, it has obviously not been a point of emphasis because none of us can remember any!
