My opinion of the kickoff and punt return teams is not very good. Derek Richards did return a punt for a touchdown against Utah State, but that's not saying much.

The kickoff return team has been poor this year. We are lucky if we can return the ball to the 25 yard line. McCain catches the ball and then runs where he is supposed. To me, it appears that his vision of the return is poor and if he had a hole to run through, he would even see it.

I wish Whit would put a stronger emphasis on the special teams because I'm a firm believer that if you need to regain or increase the momentum in a game, special teams can play a huge part!

Remember when Meyer was here? The kickoff team huddled up and you never knew if they would try an onsides? Now it's back to the way it was when McBride was here. Special teams looks a lot like it was when he was here. Gee, hmmm. I wonder why...

Whit is a protege of McBride, that's why! Special Teams players need to play with a chip on their shoulder.

Often, this is the only time these guys get on the field and they need to play like it! Grady Marshall was a special teams stud and he took pride in that.

Unfortunately, we don't have anyone like that on this team.

Hey Whit! Why don't you hire Grady Marshall to coach special teams. He'll make sure it is a point of emphasis.

I'm proud to say the the Punt Return game is looking great!

Last week against WYO, Richards returned 6 punts for a 107 yards. 17.3 yards per return. I can absolutely live with that!
