Just a recap from what Coach said today on 1320 with DJ & PK if you missed it --
DJ started the interview off by asking Whitt why they were up 40-0 at the half last week. Coach said it was just one of those games where everything fell into place and they dominated all three phases, giving credit to the players for executing the gameplan almost perfectly.
They kind-of hinted at the one-fingered salute Coach Glenn gave us, but Kyle said he hadn't heard from Cowboy Joe and that it was a dead issue, and everyone needed to move on.
Pat asked some great questions, inlcuding one on how Coach stays so even-keeled throughout the week, then fires it up for gametime, only to come back down to talk to the press just minutes afterwards. Whitt says it's a fine line to walk, but he has to walk it. As a player, he just revved the engine, the more emotion, the better. But as a coach, he has to portray someone who keeps his cool at all times, only showing the emotion when he has to.
They moved onto New Mexico, Coach saying the Lobos have owned the Utes the past few years, and he's using that as a motivational factor for the guys this week. Whitt said that UNM is one of the more physical teams we play every single year, and they get it from Coach Long.
Overall, it was a good interview. Looking forward to this Saturday!!!
